Pair of matching sterling silver candlesticks Georgian styled by Thomas A. Scott 1909.
Large and impressive set of candlesticks, octagonal in form with classically styled 18th century features. Detachable sconces with town mark, sterling and makers struck to them. Stems in bulbous form with tapered capitals and knop detailing. Tapered bases with perimeter boarding detail. Assayed to perimeter edging with makers mark, Sheffield town mark, sterling passant mark and date letter (r) 1909. These candlesticks are filled with green felt bases for surface protection.
This pair of silver candlesticks are in good condition. Sconces tight in capital rebates with marks clear, in good condition without dents and deep scratches. Candlestick stems have some light scores and small nicks. The bases are generally all good with some small corner nicks and pinhead marks. All marks of little determent to the general appearance. Candlesticks align vertically and sit flat and level. Assay marks to sconces are all clear with one of the makers mark completely rubbed. Assay marks to bases are all rubbed with close inspection required to read date letters, all other assay marks legible.
